4. Reconstruction and panel fit and painting etc.

The car clearly moving forward, inner wings to front of car inside front end remade; both front outiggers now completed.  One of my favourite pictures showng the complex ash frame construction which links arod the bulk-head and through /under the  outriggers, secondly the double wood plank sills bolted onto the seel outer sills.  Note also the front windscreen frame now rebuilt with plenty of new metal, a very skilled operation to keep this in the correct plane.  Further pictures show the rear shut line of the doors and the windscreen frame welded back into position.

The car had a new wiring loom fitted, the seats were all recovered, door cards made and covered, new carpets and underlay cut and fitted.  The engine was stripped down and rebuilt with new parts as required, gearbox stripped and rebuilt and found to be in good order.  Overall, this restoration took the best part of 10 years to complete....

A beautiful job at the bare metal respray, and the car regaining its former splendour, as the crowning achievement of the 1950's, clearly I stand by the expression "drop dead gorgeous", a beautiful car with timeless design..
